About the position

The Combo Driver is responsible for safely operating a tractor/trailer to transport freight while adhering to all relevant laws and regulations. This role requires proficiency in driving under various conditions and terrains, conducting inspections, and ensuring the security of cargo. The driver will also assist with loading and unloading freight and may be required to work flexible schedules based on business needs.

Responsibilities

• Operate all types of equipment to perform safety functions including manual transmission and chaining tires.
• Safely operate a tractor/trailer in compliance with Company, Federal, State, and Local laws.
• Maintain records in compliance with local, state, and federal regulations.
• Comply with requirements for the safe transportation of hazardous materials.
• Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections of the vehicle.
• Report maintenance problems to Fleet Services and/or supervision.
• Verify unit numbers versus paperwork and report discrepancies.
• Use in-cab technology including electronic logs as required.
• Drive different schedules and perform dock work as needed.
• Provide professional and courteous service to customers and the general public.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED, or equivalent experience.
• 21 years of age as per FMCSA regulations.
• Valid Class A Commercial Driver's License.
• Registered with the FMCSA Drug and Alcohol Clearinghouse.
• Reside within 75 miles of the domiciled terminal or work assignment.
• Hazmat, Tanker, and Doubles endorsements required.
• Minimum 1 year driving experience required.
• Stable employment history preferred.
• Ability to operate a forklift (minimum 7,500 lb. vehicle).
• Ability to lift approximately 70 lbs. or more as required.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience with over-the-road driving.
• Ability to work independently or in a team setting.
• Familiarity with state motor vehicle laws and FMCSA regulations.
