About the position

The Operations Engineer will oversee the maintenance and repair of the Combustion and Propulsion Technology (CPT) test facilities at RTX Technology Research Center. This role involves coordinating capital improvement projects, ensuring the facilities are well-maintained, and providing a safe and functional environment for testing. The ideal candidate will have strong organizational skills, experience in facilities operations, and a background in project management.

Responsibilities

• Plan, schedule, and prioritize maintenance tasks for the test facility.
• Develop and implement a total preventative maintenance (TPM) program.
• Manage budgets for maintenance, repair, and capital-funded work.
• Provide guidance to maintenance contractors and internal tradespeople.
• Manage capital upgrade projects from requirements documentation to contractor oversight.
• Provide regular reports on maintenance and capital operations to leadership.
• Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations.

Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree in mechanical engineering or a related field with a minimum of 8 years in facilities operations, or a Master's degree with 5+ years of experience, or a PhD with 3+ years of experience.
• Strong communication and project management skills.
• Experience planning and executing large-scale maintenance and capital projects.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Experience with computerized maintenance management systems.

Nice-to-haves

• Knowledge of federal, state, and local regulations related to maintenance and construction work.
• Experience creating and editing drawings in AutoCAD.
• Experience in a test facility or experimental lab environment.
• Interest in Aerospace technology.
