About the position

The position is responsible for promoting the use of industry and secure company technology standards within the realm of Internet of Things (IoT) and Embedded Linux Systems, utilizing security design principles. The role involves monitoring emerging technologies in the IoT space, designing and developing updated Embedded System security infrastructure, and ensuring a balance between tactical and strategic technology solutions. The candidate will also mentor others, review code, and ensure adherence to coding and architectural guidelines.

Responsibilities

  • Promote the use of industry and secure company technology standards in IoT and Embedded Linux Systems.
  • Monitor emerging technologies and practices in the IoT space for potential use within the company.
  • Design and develop updated Embedded System security infrastructure to support business processes.
  • Ensure a balance between tactical and strategic technology solutions.
  • Consider business problems end-to-end, including people, process, and technology.
  • Mentor and review code, ensuring adherence to secure design best practices.
  • Identify and drive issues through to closure.

Requirements

  • Knowledge of modern Linux security concepts such as Security-Enhanced Linux (SELinux), AppArmor, Grsecurity, or other hardening techniques.
  • Experience with industry and secure company technology standards in IoT and Embedded Linux Systems.
  • Experience monitoring emerging technologies in the IoT space.
  • Ability to design and develop Embedded System security infrastructure.
  • Experience balancing tactical and strategic technology solutions.
  • Familiarity with CVEs, CVSS scores, and prioritizing security vulnerability fixes.
  • Effective communication skills for coordinating with global engineering teams.

Nice-to-haves

  • Knowledge of Real Time Operating Systems (RTOS) and System-on-a-Chip (SoC) concepts.
  • Familiarity with C/C++ programming language and Linux command line (CLI).
  • Experience with Yocto/Jenkins Build Systems and secure networking concepts.
  • Knowledge of cryptography and chain-of-trust concepts.
  • Practical experience with Raspberry Pi, Arduino, or similar Linux developer-style boards.
