About the position

The Site Reliability Engineer Intern at Comcast is an opportunity for students to gain hands-on experience in managing large-scale systems within a leading media and technology company. This role involves working closely with the cloud infrastructure team to ensure the reliability, scalability, and performance of software systems. Interns will engage in various tasks related to deployment, automation, and system monitoring, contributing to real-world projects that enhance customer experience.

Responsibilities

  • Assisting in managing cloud infrastructure (AWS) and on-premises data centers.
  • Provisioning and configuring new services and systems as needed.
  • Analyzing system usage trends and planning for capacity upgrades.
  • Identifying performance bottlenecks and working with teams to optimize system performance.
  • Monitoring the performance and availability of systems and services.
  • Responding to alerts and incidents promptly to ensure system reliability and uptime.
  • Documenting operational procedures, configurations, and best practices.
  • Following security best practices and assisting in security incident response efforts.
  • Other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Requirements

  • Currently pursuing a bachelor's degree from a United States-based college or university.
  • Rising Junior or Rising Senior only (must have a graduation date between Winter 2025- Spring 2027).
  • Returning to degree-program (for at least a semester) after the completion of the summer internship.
  • Available to work 40 hours per week over the course of the summer program - June 2 through August 15, 2025.
  • Authorized to work in the United States with no current or future sponsorship needs.
  • Available to report in-person to the work location on the job posting.

Nice-to-haves

  • Good understanding of operating systems (Linux/Unix), networking fundamentals (TCP/IP, DNS, HTTP/S), and cloud platforms (AWS/Azure/Google Cloud).
  • Strong coding skills in languages commonly used for automation and infrastructure management such as Python, Go, or Java.
  • Knowledge of tools like Ansible, Puppet, Chef, or Terraform for automating infrastructure provisioning and configuration management tasks.
  • Familiarity with monitoring tools (Prometheus, Nagios, Datadog) and logging frameworks (ELK stack, Splunk).
