This position is located at (VSFB) Vandenberg Space Force Base, CA. This position is not eligible for telecommuting.

Responsibilities

  • Operate and maintain command transmitter mission equipment at all CT sites to include antenna systems, high power transmitters, signal generators, modems, heat exchangers, consoles, and power systems
  • Perform all maintenance, equipment/system status reporting, configuration control and logistics duties in accordance with the Integrated Organizational and Depot Maintenance Plan (IODMP) and related LISC Operating Instructions (LOI)
  • Troubleshoot electronic hardware to component level, and perform repairs in accordance with technical orders, maintenance manuals and schematics
  • Operate oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers, multi-meters, and specialty RF test equipment in support of maintenance and troubleshooting
  • Tune high power transmitters to correct frequency, power, bandwidth, and noise level
  • Document all corrective and preventative maintenance using the Integrated Maintenance Data System (IMDS)
  • Perform daily operations and launch support activities according to standardized checklists and work instructions. Control all aspects of system documentation/procedures and update them as required
  • Review, update and execute all critical launch documentation to include Operations Directives (OD's), Range Safety Operational Requirements (RSOR), Integrated Countdown Document (ICD), and Data Distribution Listing (DDL)
  • Schedule operations and forecast schedule for ops and maintenance daily for all sites
  • Conduct training operations and maintenance for all sites
  • Complete assigned training in a timely manner to establish a level of proficiency and certification essential for mission support
  • Follow all established policies and procedures pertaining to job site safety and security
  • Assist team with training as needed
  • Perform logistic duties
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Requirements

  • Good analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, Access, and Outlook)
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Excellent multitasking skills
  • Associate degree or two-year certificate from college or technical school with related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and training
  • Five (5) years closely related technician experience
  • Must have good written and verbal communications skills
  • Must be able to work multiple priorities during real-time operations as required

Nice-to-haves

  • Able to work at heights; able to lift, push, pull and carry up to 50 lbs.
  • Ability to climb heights up to 35'
  • Able to sustain prolonged periods of standing, kneeling and or repeated stooping
  • The flexibility to work occasional non-duty hours or on weekends to support specific project or mission requirements
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret Security Clearance, which includes U.S. citizenship
  • Valid U.S. Driver's License
