About the position

The Commercial Account Executive is responsible for promoting and selling Johnson Controls services and technology within an assigned territory. This role focuses on leveraging relationships to close new business, ensuring customer retention, and acting as a brand steward for Johnson Controls. The position requires a strong understanding of the product line and services offered, as well as a commitment to customer satisfaction and post-installation follow-ups.

Responsibilities

  • Promote and sell Johnson Controls services and technology within an assigned territory.
  • Leverage relationships to close new business and ensure customer retention.
  • Act as a brand steward for Johnson Controls, demonstrating its leadership in electronic security.
  • Secure profitable sales and upgrades to new, existing, and discontinued customers.
  • Maximize customer satisfaction by initiating post-installation follow-ups.
  • Build new market share by selling products and services to new local commercial customers.
  • Sell additional products and services to existing accounts.
  • Renew existing customer agreements and identify resale opportunities.
  • Establish call plans and customer follow-up strategies.
  • Maintain in-depth knowledge of products/services and customer needs through training and research.
  • Acquire referrals and work with Centers of Influence.
  • Process work orders and complete all paperwork according to procedures.

Requirements

  • College degree preferred; high school degree or equivalent required.
  • Minimum of 2 years experience as a successful commercial sales representative in the security, IT, or technology sales industry.
  • Demonstrated ability to meet and exceed sales quotas.
  • Excellent oral, written, and presentation skills, with the ability to present to senior-level executives.
  • Strong action-oriented mindset and drive for results.
  • Business acumen and customer focus.
  • Functional/technical skills and interpersonal savvy.
  • Conflict management and problem-solving skills.
  • Time management skills.
