About the position

The Commercial Banker is responsible for leading new client acquisition and managing ongoing client relationships within a portfolio of middle-market clients. This role involves executing a disciplined business development strategy while providing exceptional relationship management. The Commercial Banker will source and structure commercial business loans, manage treasury management and depository relationships, and make business referrals across the organization, all while maintaining a strong local network of business owners and community leaders.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement business development strategies to acquire high-value relationships.
  • Build relationships and assess the banking needs of existing and potential clients.
  • Facilitate introductions of subject matter experts and recommend appropriate bank products and services.
  • Lead the loan acquisition, structuring, negotiation, and documentation process.
  • Make written and oral presentations to the loan committee.
  • Partner closely with credit administration and underwriting departments on loan requests.
  • Maintain and expand existing client relationships through consistent communication and proactive outreach.
  • Manage credit portfolio, monitor credit quality, and ensure data integrity.
  • Adhere to the Bank's credit policies, guidelines, and applicable regulatory requirements.
  • Represent the bank at community events and in civic leadership roles.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in commercial banking business development, loan structuring, underwriting, and portfolio management.
  • Formal credit training preferred.
  • Bachelor's degree in Business or commensurate work experience required.
  • Thorough knowledge of commercial banking products and services.
  • Experience in commercial loan documentation.
  • Strong analytical skills to assess and evaluate loan risk, credit limitations, and appraisals.
  • Strong communication and influencing skills for establishing credibility with partners, clients, and executives.
  • Effective time management and prioritization skills.
