About the position

The Commercial Banker III at BankUnited is responsible for generating and managing a portfolio of commercial loans and deposits, focusing on client service, cross-sales, and retention of bank relationships. This role involves direct origination efforts, managing a prospect portfolio, and maintaining strong relationships with key industry players. The banker will also ensure proactive management of credit quality and compliance with banking regulations.

Responsibilities

• Originates, services, and grows a portfolio of commercial banking relationships.
• Meets and exceeds individual goals through structured sales processes.
• Develops knowledge of local operating companies and maintains an active calling cadence.
• Manages inherited and originated credit and depository relationships with a focus on client service and credit quality.
• Demonstrates proficiency in the credit process and prepares thorough submissions to the Credit Center.
• Delivers product proposals and engages in needs-dialogue with clients.
• Works closely with Credit partners and Portfolio Managers for proactive credit management.
• Utilizes contact management and sales tracking systems for client retention.
• Participates in division meetings and ongoing training.
• Collaborates with internal partners for cross-sale opportunities.
• Adheres to federal and state laws and bank policies.

Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree or equivalent required.
• 4-6 years of business banking experience required.
• Expert level knowledge of credit risk and portfolio management skills.

Nice-to-haves

• Licensed Real Estate Agent preferred.
• Notary License preferred.
