About the position
The Commercial Banker role within J.P. Morgan's Startup Banking team focuses on building and maintaining relationships with clients in the Middle Market Banking & Specialized Industries sector, particularly those in the Innovation Economy. This position emphasizes client acquisition, relationship management, and delivering comprehensive banking solutions to innovative companies, especially startups. The role requires a strong customer focus and a passion for entrepreneurship and innovation.
Responsibilities
- Demonstrate the ability to build a brand within your market that represents Startup Banking as the 'Leading Innovation Economy bank serving the best and most diverse clients'.
- Develop new business in your market by acquiring new relationships and deepening existing relationships.
- Deliver the entire Firm's solutions including credit and payments to clients.
- Seek out the best and most diverse founders powering innovation through a referral network built from business activities and relationship development.
- Champion a culture of innovation and a customer-centric mindset while managing risk appropriately.
- Stay up to date with industry trends to identify opportunities for innovation or strategic partnerships.
Requirements
- 5+ years of related experience.
- Strong understanding of Commercial Banking products and services.
- Excellent sales management and business development skills.
- Proficiency in building and maintaining positive client relationships.
- Strong interpersonal and influencing skills, with the ability to establish credibility and strong partnerships with senior business and control partners.
- Self-directed, proactive, and creative; uses sound judgment and navigates ambiguity to get things done.

- Bachelor's degree and formal credit training preferred.
