About the position

The VP level Commercial Banker at Wintrust Financial is responsible for managing and growing an existing portfolio of commercial banking customers, expanding relationships, and developing new business opportunities. This role focuses on providing exceptional service to clients with revenues between $20 million and $500 million, ensuring their banking needs are met while promoting relevant products and services.

Responsibilities

  • Underwrites Commercial Loans.
  • Orders credit reports, background checks, and reference checks.
  • Obtains tax returns and financial statements from client businesses.
  • Maintains and develops existing portfolio by assessing and meeting client's business and personal needs.
  • Increases the Bank's profitability by cultivating new commercial business relationships.
  • Negotiates proper loan structure and effectively cross-sells products.
  • Maintains properly documented files and manages renewals and collection efforts on past dues and defaulted loans.
  • Maintains a comprehensive understanding of current commercial products offered in the market and keeps informed of all relevant industry trends and practices.
  • Maintains and builds a professional network of COIs and referral sources.
  • Maintains a stable network of prospective customers with a consistent approach to calling.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree with a business, finance, economics or accounting major (preferred).
  • 5+ years of Commercial Lending Experience.
  • Formal Bank credit training is preferred, with a strong understanding of general credit and risk principles, mitigates, and banking policies/procedures.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and time management skills.
  • Proven ability to manage tasks in a timely and efficient manner.
  • Strong interpersonal skills used within a team environment and in client interaction with an emphasis on relationship building.
  • Ability to proactively manage and prioritize workflow.
