About the position

The Commercial Banking Officer - Business Banking at Community Financial System, Inc. (CFSI) is responsible for meeting the commercial service needs of business customers, including some lending authority. This role focuses on developing new business relationships and maintaining existing ones, ensuring high-quality service and compliance with banking policies and regulations.

Responsibilities

  • Solicit new business from present and prospective customers
  • Maintain ongoing business relationships with present customers to leverage cross-selling opportunities
  • Provide timely sales information for customer service and sales performance reports
  • Monitor individual sales performance against objectives and discuss with supervisors regularly
  • Serve as a member of the Bank's sales team and participate in group sales calls
  • Maintain thorough knowledge of all bank commercial products and services
  • Provide direct service to commercial customers regarding deposits, loans, and other products
  • Approve or reject loan applications within lending authority
  • Assist customers in obtaining specialized services from other bank departments
  • Prepare and maintain accurate records of customer service calls and meetings
  • Provide quality service to internal and external customers
  • Collaborate with other departments to achieve common goals
  • Establish annual customer service and sales objectives with supervisors
  • Comply with operating policies and procedures to maintain controls and regulatory adherence
  • Respond to inquiries from bank personnel and customers within established time frames
  • Monitor and review accounts for appropriate risk ratings
  • Provide guidance and training to Commercial Loan Officers
  • Ensure compliance with all applicable laws and regulations

Requirements

  • Minimum five (5) years of experience in related positions
  • B.S. or B.A. Degree in a related field preferred
  • Specialized banking education and training
  • Valid driver's license
  • Proficient reading, writing, grammar, and mathematical skills
  • Strong interpersonal relationship, communication, and sales skills
  • Thorough knowledge of bank commercial products and services
  • Working knowledge of bank operating policies and procedures
