About the position

Wells Fargo is seeking a Commercial Banking Portfolio Manager to join the Credit Execution Team, focusing on the Specialized Industries - Commodity Finance banking team in Houston, TX. This role is pivotal in managing a credit portfolio primarily composed of commodity traders and marketers, ensuring alignment with long-term financial objectives and risk tolerance for commercial banking clients.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as a key member of a client's deal team.
  • Underwrite and perform risk analysis on complex relationships within the Commercial Banking Portfolio Management functional area.
  • Review and analyze business financial statements requiring in-depth evaluation of multiple factors.
  • Address key issues related to cash flow, liquidity, leverage, working capital, debt coverage, collateral, and repayment sources as part of the underwriting process.
  • Analyze and review the transaction structure as part of the underwriting package.
  • Evaluate and monitor customer collateral and adherence to loan requirements.
  • Resolve moderately complex issues in conjunction with the Commercial Banking Portfolio Management team to meet project deliverables.
  • Collaborate and consult with Relationship Managers, Legal, various Capital Market product partners, and the broader Commercial Banking Portfolio Management peers.

Requirements

  • 2+ years of secured or specialized lending portfolio management experience, or equivalent demonstrated through work experience, training, military experience, or education.
  • Complex credit underwriting experience including advanced commercial Middle Market / Mid-Corp credit or specialty group relationship portfolio credit.
  • Strong analytical skills and the ability to perform in-depth commercial financial statement analysis.
  • Demonstrated attention to detail, self-motivation, and independent problem-solving ability.
  • Ability to understand, review, and negotiate loan documentation.
  • Experience working in a high-paced environment with strong organizational, multi-tasking, and prioritizing skills.
  • Ability to work in a highly collaborative work environment.
  • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal skills.

Nice-to-haves

  • Strong Microsoft Office skills, including using Excel for financial analysis and projection modeling.
  • BS/BA degree or higher, preferably majoring in Finance/Accounting.
