About the position

The Commercial Banking Relationship Manager I is responsible for developing and managing commercial accounts, focusing on customer service and maximizing profitability while minimizing risk for the bank. This role involves engaging with customers, managing a portfolio, and ensuring compliance with banking policies. The position may be filled at various levels (I, II, III, or IV), each with additional responsibilities and qualifications.

Responsibilities

  • Understand credit, commercial products, and financial statement analysis to offer beneficial banking solutions.
  • Manage an existing portfolio and seek opportunities to generate incremental revenue for the bank and meet customer financial goals.
  • Engage with customers regularly to enhance the trusted advisor relationship and ensure business needs are met.
  • Practice commercial loan portfolio management skills including project analysis, loan underwriting, risk analysis, and loan documentation.
  • Perform business development through calls to customers and prospective clients to support new business goals.
  • Maintain professional community relations to increase the bank's visibility and new business opportunities.
  • Ensure compliance with established policies and procedures for commercial banking and manage risk appropriately.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in business/finance or relevant job experience.
  • Minimum of three years of proven and progressive commercial banking/credit experience or equivalent.
  • Experience with commercial banking risk analysis.
  • Understanding of banking and credit approval processes and relevant regulations.
  • Practical working knowledge of sales principles.
  • Effective oral and written communication skills.
  • Excellent analytical, time management, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work accurately with close attention to detail.
  • Proven ability to build and maintain relationships.

Nice-to-haves

  • Underwriting experience preferred for Level II qualifications.
  • Enhanced knowledge of credit analysis practice and procedure for Level II qualifications.
  • Minimum of five years of commercial banking/credit experience for Level II qualifications.
  • Minimum of ten years managing a commercial loan portfolio for Level III qualifications.
  • Enhanced knowledge of pricing models and profitability forecasting for Level III qualifications.
  • Previous experience as an underwriter for Level IV qualifications.
