Responsibilities
- Manage a team of Commercial Construction Portfolio Assistants to ensure the monitoring, reporting, and disbursement of construction loan proceeds operates efficiently within the construction loan guidelines of Mercantile Bank.
- Oversee a portfolio of commercial construction projects, ensuring they align with organizational goals and customer expectations.
- Collaborate internally with Commercial Bankers, Commercial Loan Coordinators, Risk Management, and externally with borrowers, title companies, insurance companies, and third-party inspectors.
- Maintain a comprehensive construction monitoring program.
- Ensure adequate staffing and workload.
- Coach and deliver performance evaluations.
- Meet compliance and regulatory requirements.
- Assist bank regulatory examiners with audits.
- Provide training to internal stakeholders.
- Communicate with borrowers.
- Produce monthly/quarterly/annual reports.
Requirements
- Three or more years of commercial lending and/or construction related experience.
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience and/or a combination of experience and certifications related to the industry.
- Previous experience with construction loan documentation and the disbursement process is strongly preferred.
