About the position

The Commercial Controller - CALA position at Abbott is a key financial leadership role responsible for overseeing financial planning and decision support for the Cardiac Rhythm Management division in Canada and Latin America. This role involves managing the month-end close process, ensuring compliance with reporting requirements, and maintaining internal controls. The position also requires collaboration with various departments to support strategic initiatives and improve financial processes.

Responsibilities

  • Establish, develop, and implement financial planning processes and decision support tools for senior management.
  • Manage the month-end close process in compliance with Division and Corporate reporting requirements.
  • Prepare financial statements and analyses of income, investment responsibility, DSO, and DOH.
  • Ensure all balance sheet accounts are reconciled monthly and explain fluctuations to the Division Controller quarterly.
  • Maintain adequate internal controls for the countries involved.
  • Liaise with marketing, sales, and operations to represent interests and achieve mutual understanding regarding pricing, contracts, and credit.
  • Perform forecasting, actuals reporting, and analysis for capital and project expenses, income statement, balance sheet, and expense variances.
  • Collaborate with Division IT to define and implement Financial/Cost Systems to meet future requirements.
  • Develop, lead, train, and manage direct and functional personnel, fostering a team environment.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in accounting, finance, or a related discipline.
  • Minimum 10 years of varied accounting experience, including financial reporting, cost accounting, and internal controls.
  • At least 5 years of experience managing professional level personnel.
  • Broad spectrum of financial management skills and experience.
  • Highly developed leadership, interpersonal, communication, and project management skills.

Nice-to-haves

  • Demonstrated strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills to influence and support Senior Division management.
  • Ability to provide guidance on policies and procedures, entity tax, and profitability analysis.
