About the position

The Commercial Credit Analyst III at Investar Bank is responsible for prescreening and underwriting loan requests related to commercial real estate and commercial and industrial transactions. This role involves analyzing financial statements, tax returns, and other relevant financial information to recommend loan approvals and structures. The analyst will work in a high-production environment, ensuring service level agreements and turn time targets are consistently met without compromising quality.

Responsibilities

  • Prescreens and underwrites loan requests related to commercial real estate and commercial and industrial transactions.
  • Recommends approval and structure of proposed loans based on financial analysis.
  • Assists loan officers by running scenarios related to pricing and structuring of loan requests.
  • Manages and completes assignments in a high production environment to meet service level agreements.
  • Reviews borrower financial statements, tax returns, and performs cash flow and reserve analyses.
  • Reviews leases, rent rolls, and operating statements for investment properties and develops pro-forma cash flow statements.
  • Assesses the location, condition, economic viability, and marketability of commercial real estate offered as collateral.
  • Reviews third-party reports related to commercial properties for loan requests.
  • Monitors ongoing covenants of commercial real estate and industrial loan requests.
  • Independently develops rationale for recommending approval or decline of loan requests.
  • Prepares written credit workbooks including summaries and analyses for loan recommendations.
  • Conducts periodic reviews of loans and loan relationships according to bank policy.
  • Assists loan officers in collecting updated financial documentation for underwriting new loan requests.
  • Manages day-to-day functions of a regional credit department including pipeline and portfolio management tasks.

Requirements

  • Senior level experience in cash flow analysis.
  • Strong understanding of commercial real estate and industrial loan requests.
  • Ability to analyze financial statements and tax returns effectively.
  • Experience in preparing credit workbooks and loan summaries.
  • Proficiency in reviewing leases, rent rolls, and operating statements.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with agricultural, public/municipal finance, or SBA/Government sponsored programs.
  • Knowledge of compliance with applicable laws and regulations.
