About the position

The Commercial Credit Analyst plays a vital role in evaluating the creditworthiness of commercial loan applicants, ensuring sound lending decisions that support the growth of credit union partners. This position involves analyzing financial data, preparing credit memos, and collaborating with lending teams to structure loans that mitigate risk while meeting borrower needs.

Responsibilities

  • Analyze financial statements, tax returns, and credit reports to assess the creditworthiness of commercial loan applicants.
  • Prepare comprehensive credit memos and financial analyses for loan approval decisions.
  • Assist in the underwriting of commercial loans, ensuring alignment with credit union policies and regulatory requirements.
  • Collaborate with credit union lending teams to structure loan terms and conditions that mitigate risk while meeting borrower needs.
  • Monitor and evaluate existing commercial loan portfolios, identifying potential risks and recommending actions to maintain credit quality.
  • Stay informed on market trends, industry conditions, and economic factors that may impact borrowers and loan performance.
  • Ensure proper documentation and compliance with all applicable credit policies, regulations, and internal procedures.
  • Provide support for the ongoing administration of commercial loans, including loan renewals, modifications, and risk assessments.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • 3-5 years of experience in commercial credit analysis, lending, or a related role, preferably within a financial institution.
  • Strong knowledge of financial statement analysis, credit risk assessment, and commercial loan underwriting.
  • Excellent attention to detail, with the ability to identify potential risks and make sound recommendations.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with lending teams and external partners.
  • Proficiency in financial software and credit analysis tools.
  • Knowledge of regulatory and compliance requirements related to commercial lending.
