About the position

The Commercial Credit Underwriter II position is responsible for supporting the Large Group Practice / High TGE portion of the Healthcare Practice Solutions Group portfolio. This role focuses on analyzing and underwriting commercial loan applications, particularly for borrowers with total gross earnings (TGE) exceeding $2.5 million. The Underwriter will ensure compliance with established guidelines and regulations while managing portfolio activities and conducting credit investigations. This position may also involve mentoring junior staff and making final credit decisions within defined authority limits.

Responsibilities

  • Analyze and underwrite commercial loan applications for borrowers with TGE > $2.5MM.
  • Conduct credit investigations and analyze financial information for commercial credit exposure.
  • Perform historical business financial analysis and cash flow assessments.
  • Communicate with borrowers' accountants to understand accounting practices.
  • Investigate guarantors' financial positions and perform global cash flow analysis.
  • Research economic and market conditions related to the company and industry.
  • Identify credit risks and recommend appropriate loan structures to mitigate them.
  • Render final credit decisions within individual lending authority limits.
  • Set conditions of lending and collaborate with shared services to expedite loan closings.
  • Maintain compliance with TD Bank Credit Policy and Federal Banking Regulations.

Requirements

  • Undergraduate degree preferred.
  • 4+ years of relevant commercial lending experience.
  • Proven analytical and research skills.
  • Strong understanding of credit underwriting and industry practices.
  • Experience with business and personal financial statement analysis.
  • Demonstrated problem-solving skills and good business judgment.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proven organizational, multi-tasking, and time management skills.
  • Ability to meet deadlines and work with various business partners.
  • Developed PC skills, including proficiency in word processing and spreadsheet software.

Nice-to-haves

  • Prior lending authority preferred.
  • Small Business Administration/Agency experience preferred.
