The Commercial Credit Underwriter position is a critical role within the Credit business unit, primarily responsible for conducting thorough financial analyses of both current and prospective commercial loan customers. This involves spreading financial statements, analyzing industry and economic conditions, and completing cash flow analyses. The underwriter will prepare comprehensive underwriting presentations and perform credit investigations to assess the creditworthiness of borrowers, ensuring that the Bank is protected from potential losses, particularly focusing on larger relationships and complex transactions. The incumbent is expected to deliver the highest quality of service to every customer, reflecting the Bank's commitment to excellence. In this role, the underwriter will analyze the creditworthiness of borrowers by identifying key credit issues and preparing detailed written analyses in accordance with established policies and procedures. This includes the timely completion of the FOCUS underwriting document and all its components, particularly for larger relationships and complex transactions, often with minimal oversight. The underwriter will also prepare cash flow and global cash flow analyses to support the assessment of a borrower's creditworthiness. Utilizing Baker Hill software, the underwriter will spread various types of submitted financial statements accurately and in a timely manner. Additionally, the role requires researching available data, including internet sources and subscription-based utilities, to summarize information regarding the current and projected status of certain industries and borrowers, as well as general economic trends. This research is vital for making informed lending decisions. The underwriter is expected to maintain a personal program for ongoing education in banking matters, compliance, credit analysis, and personal skills. Demonstrating strong interpersonal behavior, communication skills, and initiative is essential for effective interaction with customers and colleagues. The underwriter will also act as a leader on complex transactions, including syndications and multi-level capital structures, using excellent communication skills to articulate opinions clearly and concisely, thereby facilitating problem-solving and recommendations regarding credit structure and risk management. Finally, the underwriter will perform other related duties and projects as assigned, while also serving as a risk manager by understanding and managing the risks encountered in daily operations, in line with F.N.B. Corporation's risk management program.
