About the position

As the Commercial Data Architecture Lead at argenx, you will play a pivotal role in the expansion of our Business Information Systems (BIS) team, focusing specifically on the Commercial and Medical Affairs functions. This position is rooted in the belief that 'Data is an asset', which is a key guiding principle for both argenx and the BIS team. Your primary responsibility will be to develop and maintain a customer-centric data architecture that aligns with this principle and supports the evolving data management needs of our growing organization. In this role, you will be tasked with developing and executing a comprehensive data architecture strategy that aligns with organizational goals and adheres to industry best practices. You will provide technical leadership in defining data architecture principles, standards, and guidelines, ensuring that our data systems are robust and scalable. Your expertise will be crucial in designing and developing conceptual, logical, and physical data models that prioritize scalability, performance, and data integrity. Collaboration will be key in this position, as you will work closely with both business and technical stakeholders to understand their data requirements and translate these into effective data models. You will oversee the selection, implementation, and optimization of databases and data management systems specifically tailored for life sciences data, ensuring that these systems perform well, are secure, and comply with all relevant regulatory standards. Additionally, you will work in tandem with the Data Governance Lead to develop and maintain a comprehensive data catalog and data lineage for our commercial and medical affairs applications. You will also be responsible for managing core master data management (MDM) domains, including Healthcare Professionals (HCP), Healthcare Organizations (HCO), Patients, and Payors. Your leadership will extend to other parts of the organization as you promote data architecture and MDM best practices. Staying informed about the industry landscape will be essential to ensure that we are deploying best-practice solutions that meet our organizational needs.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute a comprehensive data architecture strategy for Commercial and Medical Affairs, aligning with organizational goals and industry best practices.
  • Provide technical leadership in defining data architecture principles, standards, and guidelines.
  • Design and develop conceptual, logical, and physical data models, considering scalability, performance, and data integrity.
  • Collaborate with business and technical stakeholders to understand data requirements and translate them into effective data models.
  • Oversee the selection, implementation, and optimization of databases and data management systems for life sciences data, ensuring database performance, security, and compliance with regulatory standards.
  • Work closely with the Data Governance Lead to develop and maintain a right size data catalog and data lineage for commercial and medical affairs applications.
  • Responsible for the core master data management (MDM) domains of HCP/HCO, Patient, and Payor.
  • Work with other leaders in the BIS team to extend data architecture and MDM best practices to other parts of the organization.
  • Maintain an overall understanding of the industry landscape to ensure that we are deploying best-practice solutions.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 8-10 years working either in a biopharmaceutical company or a consulting organization with focus on the life sciences sector.
  • Minimum 5 years working in a data architect capacity.
  • High analytical capability with a history of leveraging data and analytical techniques to optimize business decisions.
  • Willingness to be strategic and hands-on as required.
  • Experience modeling or analyzing patient case management data, call activity data from CRM, marketing data like web traffic, email campaign statistics, and consent management required.
  • Experience with master data management systems like Veeva Network is required.
  • Experience in working with data from Veeva CRM, Marketing CRM, Salesforce ServiceCloud, and HealthCloud is required.
  • Experience in data aggregation of channel sales (SP/SD) data, 3PL data, and use of patient deidentification software like DATAVANT required.
  • Understanding of the industry landscape and global regulatory requirements (e.g., GxP, HIPAA, GDPR, etc.).
  • Work closely with other BIS team members and develop analytical and reporting solutions.
