About the position

The Commercial Division Manager at Contra Costa Electric, Inc. is responsible for overseeing the operations of the Commercial Division to achieve production and profit objectives. This role involves strategic planning, resource management, and ensuring adherence to company standards while fostering a positive work environment. The manager collaborates closely with the President & CEO and other departments to drive business development and maintain customer relationships.

Responsibilities

  • Provide organization, control, and direction in the Division to meet production and profit objectives.
  • Collaborate with the President & CEO to prepare the department expense budget.
  • Set the Division's goals and objectives in alignment with corporate objectives.
  • Participate in the Division's annual budget process and monthly budget reviews.
  • Guide Business Development staff in soliciting future customers in identified markets.
  • Maintain current job descriptions for all functional positions in the Division.
  • Prioritize estimating resources on opportunities in cooperation with Project Managers.
  • Meet Division profit and revenue targets.
  • Guide daily work of Division personnel in a direct reporting relationship.
  • Maintain workflow to meet scheduled bid and completion dates.
  • Coordinate job priorities, especially during scheduling conflicts for labor and equipment.
  • Maintain performance standards for all work performed in the Division.
  • Conduct regular inspections of all work performed in the Division.
  • Ensure adherence to company performance standards.
  • Maintain partnerships with internal and external customers.
  • Enforce adherence to project management accounting and procedures.
  • Control and protect company assets to maximize return on investment (RONA).
  • Perform regular performance evaluations of direct reports.
  • Teach problem identification and solving methods.
  • Maintain a positive professional image of the Division with all stakeholders.
  • Foster a positive, growth-oriented work environment.
  • Encourage education, training, and self-improvement for all staff in the Division.
  • Drive safety initiatives and oversee safety protocols.
  • Maintain positive communication channels within the Division.
  • Encourage positive problem-solving attitudes and provide training opportunities.
  • Attend Management Advisory Committee meetings and provide feedback to Division employees.
  • Foster positive relationships with clients and field personnel through job walks and inspections.

Requirements

  • 5-10 years of Electrical Construction Project Management Experience.
  • Bachelor's Degree in Construction Management or related discipline preferred.
  • Working knowledge of the construction industry, operations management, and safety practices.
  • Demonstrated leadership in the Construction Industry.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Outlook, Word, Excel).
