About the position

The Commercial Driver position at Waste Management involves safely operating a heavy-duty truck to perform assigned duties on transfer routes. The role emphasizes adherence to safety regulations and efficient route management, ensuring that all customer requests are met while maintaining a clean and safe vehicle.

Responsibilities

• Safely operate a heavy-duty truck on transfer routes.
• Perform pre- and post-trip inspections of the vehicle using the Driver Vehicle Inspection Report (DVIR).
• Report any unsafe situations or service calls to the Route Manager or Dispatch.
• Participate in scheduled training, briefings, and meetings as required.
• Work closely with Route Managers to improve route efficiencies and identify unsafe accounts.
• Assist other company drivers as directed by the Route Manager or Dispatch.
• Notify the Route Manager of any incidents, accidents, injuries, or property damage.
• Communicate customer requests or issues to Dispatch or Route Manager.
• Ensure all containers are dumped and the customer's location is left clean and free of debris.
• Complete and submit customer tickets for excess yardage removal.
• Position containers properly on the customer's property to avoid blocking driveways or traffic.
• Follow route assignments and complete all documentation at the end of the route.

Requirements

• Commercial Drivers License B (CDL) is required.
• Must be at least 18 years of age.
• Successful completion of pre-employment DOT drug screen, physical, and background check.
• Acceptable driving record is required.

Nice-to-haves

• At least 1 year of CDL driving experience is preferred.
• Experience in physical labor or forklift driving is preferred.
