About The Position

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university preferred.
  • Must have earned the IIA-AIC designation and be actively pursuing another professional insurance designation.
  • Appropriate state adjuster license is required.
  • Five (5) years of related experience or equivalent combination of education and experience required.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills, including presentation skills.
  • PC literate, including Microsoft Office products.
  • Demonstrated commitment to timely reporting.
  • Strong customer service and interpersonal skills.
  • Attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Good time management and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work independently or in a team environment.

Nice To Haves

  • CPCU/AIC preferred if possible.

Responsibilities

  • Investigate claims against insurance or other companies for personal, casualty, or property loss or damages.
  • Handle complex losses locally unassisted up to designated authority; assist on larger losses, including accounting-based losses.
  • Examine claim forms and other records to determine insurance coverage.
  • Interview claimants and witnesses regarding claims.
  • Consult police and hospital records; inspect property damage to determine liability.
  • Estimate costs of repair, replacement, or compensation.
  • Prepare reports of findings and negotiate settlements with claimants.
  • Recommend litigation by the legal department when settlements cannot be negotiated.
  • Attend litigation hearings.
  • Revise case reserves in assigned claims files to cover probable costs.
  • Assist in preparing loss experience reports to help determine profitability and calculate future rates.
