About the position

Riddleberger Brothers, Inc. is seeking to hire talented and growth-minded individuals to join our team as Commercial HVAC Service Technicians. This position is open to experienced HVAC Journeyman, but we also have training opportunities available for recent tech graduates and those who have experience with residential equipment. Our technicians will be responsible for servicing, maintaining, and repairing commercial HVAC systems, ensuring that all work adheres to company safety requirements and processes. The primary duties include servicing and repairing direct-expansion AC equipment, gas-fired and electric heating systems, and low voltage temperature-control systems. Technicians will start systems, observe operations, read gauges and instruments, and adjust mechanisms to control levels of fluid, pressure, and temperature in the system. They will also diagnose malfunctioning equipment and bring any questionable situations to the immediate supervisor's attention. Responsibilities

  • Service, maintain, and repair commercial HVAC systems.
  • Follow and adhere to all company safety requirements and processes.
  • Service and repair direct-expansion AC equipment up to five tons.
  • Service and repair gas-fired and electric heating systems typically found in systems up to five tons.
  • Service low voltage (24-volt or 1- to 10-volt) temperature-control systems associated with HVAC equipment.
  • Service air-handling equipment and duct systems associated with commercial HVAC equipment.
  • Start systems, observe operations, read gauges and instruments, and adjust mechanisms to control levels of fluid, pressure, and temperature in the system.
  • Replace or adjust defective or worn parts to repair systems.
  • Diagnose malfunctioning equipment accurately and report questionable situations to the immediate supervisor.

Requirements

  • High school graduate or GED is required.
  • Trade school graduate preferred.
  • Hold a Universal Refrigerant Card.
  • VA and/or WV tradesman card preferred.
  • At least five years of commercial experience is preferred, but paid training opportunities are available.
  • Valid driver's license and ability to meet company driver qualification policy.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with air-cooled water chillers equipped with reciprocating, scroll, or screw compressors.
  • Experience with water-cooled DX water chillers equipped with reciprocating, scroll, or screw compressors.
  • Knowledge of electronic controls incorporated with packaged water chillers.
  • Experience with chilled- and hot-water piping and pumping systems equipped with variable speed drives.
  • Familiarity with gas-fired and electric hot-water heating systems typically found in commercial systems.
  • Experience with electronic and computer-controlled digital temperature-control systems.
  • Knowledge of pneumatic, electronic, and modular DDC control systems associated with commercial HVAC systems.
