This position is primarily based in Shreveport, Louisiana, and involves detailed technical work that requires strong mathematical and computer skills. Attention to detail is paramount, as the role involves interfacing with various stakeholders, including co-workers, customers, and factory representatives. Effective communication and organizational skills are essential, as the candidate will need to prioritize tasks and meet strict deadlines. The successful candidate will receive direct training related to the product lines represented by the company, ensuring they have the technical knowledge necessary to fulfill job requirements effectively. In this role, the engineer will support the sales efforts of the company by conducting detailed reviews of product specifications and selections, identifying issues that need to be addressed with consulting engineers, and developing optimized bills of material for projects. Coordination with factory personnel for pricing is also a key responsibility. The engineer will prepare proposals for customer bid lists, detailing project scopes and emphasizing the benefits provided to meet customer requirements. Additionally, the role includes providing backup support to customers who inquire about quotes or require further information. The position also emphasizes job development, where the engineer will learn the product lines represented by the company to optimize quotes effectively. Gaining competitive knowledge of both the company's products and those of competitors will enhance the engineer's ability to optimize project bills of material and improve competitive positioning on projects. Familiarity with individual manufacturers' systems for product selection, pricing, and ordering will also be part of the learning process.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct detailed reviews of product specifications and selections to identify issues that need to be addressed with consulting engineers by account sales engineers.
  • Develop optimized bills of material for projects and coordinate pricing with applicable factory personnel.
  • Prepare proposals for customer bid lists detailing project scope with emphasis on benefits provided and customer requirements that need to be addressed.
  • Complete bid files with selections, pricing, job recap, and proposals for sales engineer review.
  • Provide backup support to customers who inquire about quotes or need other information.

Requirements

  • Strong background in HVAC estimating.
  • Experience with computer programming/coding or other analytical training is considered.
  • Strong math and computer skills are essential.
  • Attention to detail is crucial.
  • Good communication and people skills to interface with co-workers, customers, and factory representatives.
  • Good organizational skills and the ability to prioritize tasks and meet strict deadlines.
