About the position

The Commercial Landscape Project Manager is responsible for managing client interactions and expectations related to long-term planning and value-added services in the landscape industry. This role focuses on client retention, project management, and ensuring projects are completed on time and within budget while maintaining high standards of communication and service delivery.

Responsibilities

  • Manage client interactions and expectations surrounding long-term planning and value-added services.
  • Serve as the point-of-contact for high-level site and project issues, identifying and resolving client needs.
  • Act as a liaison between operations and clients, ensuring clarity in communication and expectations.
  • Conduct walkthroughs with clients and company representatives as appropriate.
  • Evaluate accounts and develop effective landscape asset management plans.
  • Collaborate with Area Managers to maintain a holistic understanding of client sites.
  • Stay up-to-date on day-to-day site operations to identify trends needing comprehensive solutions.
  • Create, manage, and control the scope of work, ensuring projects are completed on time and within budget.
  • Manage all project communication between internal and external clients.
  • Analyze job cost reports and budget variances related to contract projects.
  • Prepare monthly forecasts of labor and materials, and accurate job costing of work orders.
  • Gather, calculate, and compile take-off data for bid estimates.
  • Accurately prepare bids and landscape designs using field-collected data and computer programs.
  • Visit jobs in progress to relate actual estimates and address any arising questions or problems.
  • Manage the billing process, including communicating change orders and progress billing.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with vendors and subcontractors, ensuring accountability and quality for price.
  • Ensure safety on every project by enforcing safety training and monitoring job sites for potential hazards.
  • Promote adherence to company policies and best practices.
  • Seek opportunities for continuous improvement in project management and communication skills.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Landscape Architecture, Horticulture, Construction/Project Management, or related field.
  • At least 5 years of related work experience.
  • Extensive knowledge of regional plant life.
  • Minimum 3 years of verifiable field experience with project estimating or design-build work.
  • Strong estimation background with knowledge of construction/installation and irrigation.
  • Valid driver license issued by the state of employment.
  • PMP certification preferred.
  • Strong customer service skills with internal and external clients.
  • Effective oral and written communication skills.
  • Advanced knowledge of scheduling, budgeting, document management, and cost forecasting.
  • Ability to read and interpret construction plans/drawings.
  • Experience working with commercial property managers, vendors, consultants, and architects is a plus.
  • Ability to prioritize multiple tasks and perform well under deadlines.
  • Organizational skills and flexibility.
  • Advanced presentation skills.
  • Intermediate to advanced understanding of Salesforce, Microsoft Office Suite, and Project Management Software.
  • Intermediate to advanced experience using design software, including Photoshop, Adobe Creative Suite, AutoCAD, and ProLandscape.

  • Experience with construction estimating.
