About the position

The Commercial Liability Claims Specialist at Erie Insurance is responsible for independently managing complex and high-exposure commercial liability claims and litigation. This role requires a strong focus on investigation, evaluation, and resolution strategies while working remotely from Pennsylvania. The successful candidate will also mentor less experienced staff and ensure compliance with training requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct investigations, evaluate coverage, liability, and resolution strategies for claims.
  • Handle or assist in litigated claims and make recommendations regarding litigation.
  • Respond to complaints and inquiries, resolving issues effectively.
  • Select and direct outside experts and vendors as needed.
  • Train and mentor less experienced staff.
  • Complete required training.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED required; Associate's or Bachelor's degree preferred.
  • Five years of previous claims handling experience or equivalent experience in the legal field required.
  • Completion of Associate in Claims (AIC) program preferred.
  • Commercial, Property, Casualty, Underwriter (CPCU) designation preferred.
  • Appropriate license as required by state; valid driver's license and good driving record required.

  • Experience in commercial liability claims handling.
  • Knowledge of litigation processes and strategies.
