About the position

The Commercial Lines Account Manager at McGowan Insurance Group is responsible for the daily maintenance and servicing of assigned Commercial Lines accounts. This role involves close collaboration with the production team to manage both new and existing client accounts, ensuring high levels of client service and satisfaction. The Account Manager plays a crucial role in achieving agency account retention and growth goals through proactive account management, cross-selling, and effective marketing of renewal accounts.

Responsibilities

  • Servicing accounts in accordance with agency service standards for Small and Mid-Market Commercial Lines.
  • Seeking referrals from existing clients and cross-selling to other departments.
  • Analyzing client needs and recommending appropriate coverage solutions.
  • Preparing summaries of insurance, schedules, and proposals as needed.
  • Processing incoming communications and responding promptly and professionally.
  • Maintaining client files within the Agency Management System and ensuring proper documentation.
  • Following up on service requests to confirm accuracy by carrier/vendor.
  • Assisting clients with billing questions and resolving issues.
  • Reviewing coverage and providing information to client inquiries.
  • Assisting clients with claims and following up on claim status.
  • Performing renewal reviews and risk exposure analysis to secure proper coverage.
  • Maintaining control of pre-expiration reports and aged receivables.
  • Determining reasons for cancellation requests and acting to save accounts.
  • Maintaining current knowledge of underwriting requirements of carriers.
  • Participating in special projects at management's request.

Requirements

  • Indiana Property and Casualty License
  • Commercial Lines Account Management experience
  • Extensive knowledge of all lines of commercial insurance
  • Thorough knowledge of brokerage operations and applicable insurance laws
  • Familiarity with risk assessment and risk management techniques
  • Experience in operating in an electronic environment with excellent automation skills
  • Excellent time management, organizational, and communication skills
  • High degree of self-motivation and self-direction
  • Keen attention to detail
  • Ability to maintain professional relationships with clients and coworkers
  • Understanding of teamwork and ability to work well within a team environment.
