About the position

The Commercial Lines - Key Accounts Construction Account Executive role at The Cincinnati Insurance Companies involves managing a book of new and renewal business within the construction sector. This position requires building productive relationships with agents and brokers, evaluating contractor exposures, and strategically growing the business in a multi-state territory. The role emphasizes collaboration, negotiation, and mentorship within a service-oriented environment.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with the construction industry to discuss issues impacting the insurance sector.
  • Proactively engage with accounts in the assigned territory and work with management to grow the business.
  • Strategically engage with partner agents to drive revenue with Key Account size business.
  • Evaluate and document contractor exposures and controls, analyzing actuarial loss models.
  • Price business to achieve positive returns within the organization's risk appetite.
  • Negotiate renewals to meet business unit goals, including rate/retention dynamics and policy terms.
  • Develop and execute stewardship service plans addressing claims, loss control, and RMIS service needs.
  • Understand the agency planning process and the impact of contingency/supplemental commission arrangements.
  • Collaborate with and mentor less experienced underwriters.

Requirements

  • Five years of underwriting experience, preferably in the construction sector.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Strong negotiation and relationship-building abilities.
  • Working knowledge of large account marketing and underwriting, including loss sensitive programs.
  • Familiarity with collateral concepts, wrap-ups, and contractor-specific coverage.
  • Analytical and critical-thinking skills.
  • Understanding of portfolio management and ability to balance growth and profit dynamics.
  • Self-starter with creative thinking and ability to create opportunities.
  • Willingness to travel.

Nice-to-haves

  • College degree preferred.
  • CPCU/other designations preferred.
