About the position

We are seeking a Commercial Litigation Paralegal to join a law firm in the Boca Raton area. This is a full-time, in-office position with a salary of $65,000 per year. The ideal candidate will be responsible for the implementation of all elements of evolving commercial litigation case and knowledge management systems. This includes file management (both electronic and hard copy), case calendaring, task lists, and managing commercial litigation-related deadlines. The role requires meeting and conferring with attorneys, clients, and other professionals to discuss cases, projects, and ongoing client development initiatives. The Commercial Litigation Paralegal will draft legal documents, including routine retention and fee applications, draft orders, prepare exhibits, and file motions and pleadings in accordance with judicial procedures. Additionally, the paralegal will research and analyze case management procedures, local court rules, and statutes for compliance. Monitoring case dockets to identify, summarize, and circulate relevant pleadings and applications is also a key responsibility. The position involves managing hearing preparation and support, including scheduling telephonic appearances and preparing hearing binders. The successful candidate will prepare, organize, store, and retrieve case information, which may include depositions, pleadings, exhibits, and other items. Assisting attorneys with hearing and trial preparation is essential, as is developing and maintaining time records regarding billable hours spent on specific cases. Active participation in weekly team meetings is expected to ensure effective communication and collaboration within the team.

Responsibilities

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree with 2 or more years of relevant experience.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong knowledge of electronic filing through Federal and State courts.
  • Familiarity with fundamental commercial litigation concepts and court pleadings.
  • Excellent interpersonal and client service skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality, and to exercise discretion and good judgment.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
