About the position

The Commercial Loan Officer / Portfolio Manager is responsible for soliciting, promoting, marketing, and facilitating the overall sale of the bank's products. This role is crucial in contributing to the bank's growth by effectively selling bank services to both new and existing customers, with a strong emphasis on providing exceptional customer service. The position requires the officer to service and collect loans while meeting customer needs in accordance with the bank's policies. The officer will evaluate, service, monitor, and administer loan products to commercial businesses, ensuring a high-quality loan and deposit portfolio. This includes determining collateral values and analyzing data for loan approvals within established guidelines. The officer must also recognize and act on cross-selling opportunities, referring customers to appropriate personnel and providing information on various accounts and services. Active involvement in local community events is also expected to enhance the bank's presence and customer base. The officer is expected to manage an existing portfolio valued between $70MM and $100MM, which includes monitoring loans to ensure proper risk ratings and identifying potential issues. Responsibilities include preparing renewals for loans nearing maturity, contacting customers for overdue payments, and gathering current financial information. The officer will process and approve loan modification requests and perform loan monitoring duties, which involve extracting financial information from the bank's document-imaging system and reviewing customer financial data. Through personal marketing and networking, the officer will target and secure a variety of real estate and commercial loans, aiming to meet personal production goals and overall bank objectives. The role also involves approving loans within policy guidelines and presenting requests exceeding individual lending authority to loan committees for approval. In addition to loan processing, the officer is responsible for maximizing bank profitability through appropriate pricing of loan originations and selling all bank products and services. The officer must ensure that loan agreements are complete and accurate, review and approve commercial overdrafts, and ensure that approved loans are processed and funded promptly. A bachelor's degree in a relevant field and a minimum of three years of experience in the industry are required. The officer is also expected to promote a positive image of PointBank in the community by representing the bank at various events and following up on leads to develop new business opportunities. Compliance with all applicable regulations and participation in required training is essential, as is the responsibility for suggesting improvements to branch operations and performing other duties as assigned by management.

Responsibilities

  • Service existing portfolio consisting of $70MM-$100MM, monitoring loans for proper risk rating and identifying potential problems.
  • Monitor loan maturity reports and prepare renewals as needed.
  • Call customers for payment on past-due loans.
  • Contact customers for collection of new/current financial information based on loan ticklers/exceptions reports.
  • Process and approve loan modification and collateral substitution requests.
  • Perform loan monitoring duties, including location and extraction of financial information from the bank's document-imaging system.
  • Review customer financial information for loan assessments.
  • Target, solicit, secure, and service a variety of real estate and commercial loans outside of PointBank premises.
  • Approve loans within policy guidelines and present requests exceeding individual lending authority to loan committees.
  • Obtain required documentation from customers and perform credit and underwriting analysis for loan request packages.
  • Maximize bank profitability through appropriate pricing of loan originations and selling of bank products and services.
  • Verify loan agreements for completeness and accuracy according to policy.
  • Review, approve, and disposition commercial overdrafts within authority limits.
  • Ensure approved loans are processed, closed, and funded efficiently.
  • Promote a positive image for PointBank in the community and represent the bank at events.
  • Report maintenance, landscaping, or housekeeping needs to the Facilities Manager.
  • Attend meetings and complete training for regulatory compliance.
  • Comply with Federal and State regulations and BSA/AML/OFAC policies and procedures.
  • Make suggestions to improve branch/departmental operations and overall bank performance.
  • Perform other duties and assignments as requested by management.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field or 3+ years of experience in the field or a related area.
  • Strong customer service skills and ability to promote bank products effectively.
  • Experience in servicing and collecting loans.
  • Ability to analyze financial data and determine collateral values.
  • Knowledge of loan policies and procedures.
  • Excellent communication and networking skills.
