About the position

The Credit Analyst is responsible for the analysis of all relevant credit and financial data used in evaluating the creditworthiness of commercial borrowers and in producing a comprehensive and objective credit analysis to assist management in the risk oversight of the commercial loan portfolio. Assigned borrowers are among the least complex in the portfolio, with requests primarily consisting of annual reviews of commercial real estate (CRE) loans and line of credit renewals for relationships under $3MM. The role may also involve underwriting new loans to existing borrowers, with guidance provided by the VP/Credit Manager and other team members.

Responsibilities

  • Develops an understanding of the Baker Hill financial statement spreading software and produces accurate results with some guidance.
  • Analyzes financial information such as CPA-prepared financials and corporate tax returns.
  • Calculates basic cash flow and prepares accurate debt repayment schedules.
  • Prepares basic collateral analysis with appropriate advance rates, values, and balances.
  • Researches the borrower's industry and identifies related risks.
  • Completes numerical analyses and prepares objective written analyses for lending decisions.
  • Makes risk rating recommendations in accordance with Loan Policy.
  • Tests financial covenants, where applicable.
  • Researches UCC filings.
  • Orders and evaluates credit reports.
  • Provides credit information and references to loan officers and authorized external sources.
  • May attend customer meetings with lending officer.
  • Works with Portfolio Managers and Documentation Specialist in tracking and scanning financial reporting requirements.
  • Completes BSA, AML, and other regulatory and continuing education as assigned.
  • Adheres to all bank and regulatory policies and procedures specific to position.
  • Assumes additional responsibilities as requested.

Requirements

  • Bachelors of Science Degree in Finance, Accounting, or Business Administration or relevant work experience preferred.
  • Self-motivated and detail-oriented with the ability to prioritize work and meet deadlines.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • Strong personal organization skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong critical thinking skills.
