About the position

The Commercial Loan Portfolio Manager I is responsible for managing a portfolio of commercial loans, enhancing customer relationships, and collaborating with Commercial Lenders on loan origination and portfolio management activities. This role involves monitoring loan covenants, conducting credit file reviews, and ensuring compliance with regulations while providing support to lenders and maintaining effective communication with clients.

Responsibilities

  • Manage a portfolio of commercial loans.
  • Collaborate with Commercial Lenders on portfolio maintenance activities including maturity monitoring and renewals.
  • Review monthly maturity reports and prepare extension memos as required.
  • Perform Credit File Reviews and recommend risk rating adjustments.
  • Prepare Pre-Cams for renewals and modifications and submit to underwriting.
  • Interact with customers to enhance business relationships.
  • Spread financial statements and perform debt service calculations.
  • Analyze financial data for creditworthiness and loan requests.
  • Review Credit Risk Review Reporting and assist with clearing loan documentation exceptions.
  • Monitor and update covenant tracking database and escalate issues as necessary.
  • Monitor delinquencies and provide recommendations for loan restructuring.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Management, or related field.
  • 3-5 years of related Commercial Banking and/or Commercial Credit experience.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills.
  • Considerable attention to detail.
  • Formal credit training and strong credit risk assessment skills.
  • Organizational skills.
  • Ability to develop constructive and cooperative relationships.
  • Skilled in Microsoft Office applications including Excel and Word.
  • Working knowledge of covenant tracking systems.
