About the position

The Commercial Loan Portfolio Manager at Main Street Bank plays a crucial role in supporting the Commercial Lending Team to achieve objectives related to commercial loan portfolio management, loan origination, and deposit growth. This position is responsible for managing selected new and existing relationships within the bank's commercial lending portfolio, which includes handling new loan requests, renewal requests, coordinating annual reviews, and developing workout strategies. The manager serves as the principal point of contact for assigned relationships, driving loan and deposit growth in alignment with the bank's business plan. The role requires effective collaboration with key representatives from commercial lending and other areas of the bank to facilitate referrals through joint sales calls and troubleshoot any issues that may arise for both internal and external customers, ensuring ownership throughout the resolution process. In addition to managing relationships, the Commercial Loan Portfolio Manager is tasked with ensuring efficient loan application processes, structuring, underwriting, and closing, while also providing a user-friendly deposit account opening and servicing experience. Compliance with all relevant regulatory requirements is paramount. The incumbent will create and maintain close relationships with all parties involved in commercial transactions and help facilitate sales through the structuring of creative and appealing loan products. This position embraces the established sales and service culture to maximize contributions to the bank's goals. After successful training and proven abilities, the position is eligible for a hybrid work arrangement, with consistent availability expected during core business hours. Work outside of regular hours requires prior approval to meet deadlines and fulfill the needs of both internal and external customers.

Responsibilities

  • Manage selected new and existing relationships in the bank's commercial lending portfolio.
  • Handle new loan requests, renewal requests, and coordinate annual reviews.
  • Develop workout strategies and serve as the principal point of contact for assigned relationships.
  • Drive loan and deposit growth consistent with the business plan.
  • Underwrite loan opportunities and secure business banking service and product sales.
  • Collaborate with key representatives from commercial lending and other areas of the bank for referrals.
  • Troubleshoot problems for internal and external customers, maintaining ownership throughout the resolution process.
  • Ensure efficient loan application, structuring, underwriting, and closing processes.
  • Create and maintain relationships with all parties involved in commercial transactions.
  • Facilitate sales through structuring creative loan products.
  • Participate in team sales meetings and contribute to meeting assigned volume/production goals.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Accounting, or Finance; MBA preferred.
  • 3-5 years of experience in Commercial Lending or related fields, with emphasis on C&I Lending, CRE, and construction loans.
  • Experience in Credit Analysis is preferred.
  • Broad knowledge of business banking and relationship sales.
  • Solid background in financial institution operating policies and procedures, and banking regulations.
  • Ability to complete accurate complex financial and other analyses.
  • Experience with Sageworks (or similar) statement spreading software and Salesforce is preferred.
  • Proficient in Microsoft 365 Suite products including Excel, Word, Outlook, Teams, and SharePoint.
  • Knowledge of standard legal and related documents for various commercial loan types.
