About the position

The Commercial Operations Buyer plays a crucial role in supporting the procurement of materials and supplies for laboratory locations. This position involves managing purchasing processes, ensuring accurate pricing and delivery, and maintaining effective communication with suppliers and stakeholders. The Buyer is responsible for contributing to cost efficiency and timely order fulfillment, while also resolving any issues related to procurement.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in the purchase of all materials and supplies for assigned laboratory locations.
  • Support and assist with all purchasing processes within the NetSuite ERP system.
  • Communicate with the line manager regarding any issues affecting pricing, delivery, quality, or backorders.
  • Review requisition requirements to ensure correct supplier, pricing, and quantity based on past ordering patterns.
  • Check pricing for changes and ensure alignment with supplier agreements.
  • Issue and confirm purchase orders to suppliers within two business days.
  • Ensure receipt of supplier confirmation for all purchase orders.
  • Resolve supplier issues related to pricing or delivery before shipment.
  • Keep stakeholders informed of any deviations from stated requirements.
  • Follow up with suppliers on past due orders and communicate updated delivery information.
  • Resolve invoice disputes and document resolutions in the Accounts Payable database.
  • Maintain the ERP Purchasing System and ensure data integrity.

Requirements

  • Associates or Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience.
  • 5+ years of operations and/or procurement experience in a complex business environment.
  • Understanding of different business functions such as manufacturing, commercial, supply chain, R&D, operations, and engineering.

Nice-to-haves

  • Intermediate proficiency with ERP systems and Microsoft Office products including Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Strong interpersonal, organizational, negotiation, and problem-solving skills.
