About the position
The Renewable Energy Finance (REF) team at Huntington Bank is dedicated to originating project finance and non-recourse transactions specifically for renewable energy facilities. This business line primarily focuses on tax equity transactions within the renewables sector, which includes wind, solar, storage, and other forms of renewable investment. The REF team is currently seeking a talented and ambitious Commercial Portfolio Manager to join the Renewable Energy Underwriting and Portfolio Management team. This team collaborates with internal partners to underwrite new transactions and manage the existing portfolio of loans, ensuring the Commercial Bank's growth while maintaining a scalable and well-managed business. As a Commercial Portfolio Manager, you will work closely with the origination team, clients, Relationship Managers, and the Credit Department. Your responsibilities will include reviewing and analyzing financial statements and engineering reports, assisting in structuring transactions, assessing credit risk, preparing deal screen presentations, writing credit approval memorandums, and presenting recommendations to the credit committee. Additionally, you will assist in monitoring and managing the credit portfolio, ensuring compliance with financial covenants and reporting requirements. This role requires a strong analytical mindset, as you will be responsible for financial modeling and analysis, identifying key risks, and providing underwriting and marketing support during the origination and execution of new lending opportunities. You will also develop relationships with key internal constituents and support primary Portfolio Managers in maintaining accurate risk ratings and executing amendments. Your contributions will be vital in the annual review process, where you will make recommendations to risk ratings in accordance with credit policy guidelines.
Responsibilities
- Responsible for financial modeling and analysis, identifying key risks, assisting senior bankers with loan structuring and pricing, preparing extensive written credit analysis, and assisting with credit presentations.
- Provides analytical, underwriting and marketing support during the origination and execution of new lending opportunities.
- Reviews loan documentation and due diligence materials.
- Applies all applicable credit policies and internal processes for the execution and funding of new transactions.
- Develops relationships and credibility with key internal constituents.
- Supports primary Portfolio Managers in maintaining accurate risk ratings, executing amendments, preparing monitoring materials and other tasks and administrative items; may assist with the training, development, and work review of analysts.
- Assists in annual review process as needed, making recommendations to risk ratings in accordance with credit policy guidelines.
- Monitors and evaluates ongoing compliance with financial covenants and reporting requirements.
- Maintains good working knowledge of the Bank's lending policies and procedures and identifies exceptions to credit policy.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting or economics with at least two courses in accounting required.
- 2 - 4 years' experience in an underwriting or commercial banking environment with a focus on project finance transactions in power and infrastructure projects; competence in financial modeling.
