About the position

The Commercial Real Estate Paralegal will support attorneys in managing various aspects of commercial real estate transactions, including purchases, sales, financing, and leasing. This role requires a detail-oriented and organized individual who can multitask effectively in a fast-paced environment, ensuring compliance with legal requirements throughout the transaction process.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct thorough title and survey reviews for commercial real estate transactions, identifying issues and collaborating with attorneys to resolve discrepancies.
  • Assist in the preparation and review of contracts, leases, deeds, closing documents, and other related documentation for commercial real estate transactions.
  • Coordinate due diligence activities, including lien searches, zoning compliance, and environmental reports, and gather required documentation for real estate closings.
  • Facilitate and manage all aspects of the closing process, ensuring timely completion of transactions and accurate filing of documents.
  • Act as a liaison between clients, lenders, title companies, surveyors, and other parties to ensure smooth communication and transaction progression.
  • Draft and review various legal documents, including purchase and sale agreements, amendments, closing checklists, and lease agreements.
  • Organize and manage post-closing activities, including tracking critical dates, updating closing binders, and maintaining records in accordance with company standards.
  • Assist in preparing loan documents for real estate financings, including promissory notes, mortgages, and related agreements.
  • Support attorneys in commercial leasing matters, including the preparation of lease agreements, amendments, and tenant communications.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 5+ years of experience as a paralegal, specifically in commercial real estate transactions.
  • Bachelor's degree and/or Paralegal Certificate from an ABA-approved program.
  • Strong experience in title and survey reviews, purchase and sale agreements, leasing, and real estate financing.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team setting, as well as independently.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and legal research tools.
