About the position
The Commercial Rear Load Driver is responsible for safely operating a collection truck and providing prompt, courteous, and complete waste removal services for customers. This role involves ensuring compliance with safety standards, performing vehicle inspections, and adhering to company, state, and federal regulations while operating the vehicle. The driver will also interact with customers and maintain high service standards.
Responsibilities
- Perform complete pre- and post-operation inspection of the vehicle in accordance with Company policy.
- Safely operate the heavy truck along the designated route and to the disposal site.
- Read route sheet, follow map, and service each customer as identified on the route sheet.
- Operate manual and/or automatic controls to lift and load refuse and dispose of collected material.
- Courteously interact with customers, dispatchers, and others to ensure timely service.
- Identify unsatisfactory waste containers and tag them according to departmental procedures.
- Continuously monitor waste for evidence of unacceptable waste.
- Clean area around accidental waste spills, adhering to safety standards.
- Monitor the condition of the vehicle to ensure operational readiness.
- Complete required route/productivity sheets, VCRs, and other reports as required.
- Maintain adherence to required productivity standards for timely customer service.
- Follow all required safety policies and procedures.
Requirements
- Class B or higher Commercial Driver's license with air brakes endorsement.
- Good customer service skills to meet and exceed customer expectations.
- Good time management skills to ensure responsibilities are completed efficiently.
- Ability to adhere to Company policies and promote safety standards.
