About the position

The Inside Sales Engineer at Proofpoint plays a crucial role in the sales process, acting as a technical lead and trusted advisor to both Account Managers and customers. This position focuses on delivering people-centric cybersecurity solutions, conducting product demonstrations, and assisting in proof-of-concept evaluations. The role requires collaboration with the sales team to develop account strategies and build strong relationships with clients, ensuring their security needs are met effectively.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with the sales team to develop and execute targeted account penetration strategies.
  • Build trust and rapport with customers and prospects, serving as their main technical point of contact.
  • Deliver a high volume of compelling product demonstrations addressing pressing cyber threats based on customer security needs.
  • Work closely with customer security staff for technical discovery and planning of Proof-of-Concept (POC) and Production Evaluations.
  • Design and champion complex People-Centric Security solutions encompassing the entire Proofpoint portfolio.
  • Assist in professional services deployments, technical training, and present at industry seminars and trade shows.
  • Provide valuable customer insights to Product Management, Marketing, and Product Development teams.

Requirements

  • 3+ years of hands-on technical experience in a customer-facing role in the cybersecurity industry.
  • Experience in Enterprise or Cloud Security, including cloud/SaaS platforms, messaging, data, network, endpoint, NOC/SOC, or MSP-related cybersecurity.
  • Experience selling and positioning a platform is highly valued.
  • Exposure to at least two of the following skill sets: Cloud security, IT security, Data Loss Prevention (DLP), or Enterprise email solutions.
  • Strong consultative approach to problem-solving and a desire to pivot towards sales.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with Directory Services and protocols such as Active Directory, AzureAD, LDAP.
  • Knowledge of email authentication methods (SPF, DKIM, DMARC).
  • Familiarity with networking protocols such as SMTP, DNS, LDAP, HTTP.
  • Experience with frameworks such as MITRE and/or NIST.
  • CISSP or other relevant cybersecurity and cloud security certifications.
