About the position

Stellar Solutions is seeking a Commercial Technical Project Manager to join our dynamic team in either the Bay Area or El Segundo, California. This role is pivotal in managing large system procurements and providing expert advice on cutting-edge space and ground systems. Our focus spans various high-tech commercial ventures, including communications, earth observation, and remote sensing systems, as well as the infrastructures that support businesses operating in and beyond earth orbit. In this position, you will be part of a collaborative team responsible for overseeing commercial program management related to space, launch, and ground systems. You will leverage your expertise in commercial satellite programs and systems engineering to ensure successful project execution. The ideal candidate will possess excellent written and verbal communication skills, enabling effective collaboration with customers, partners, and colleagues at all levels. A strong background in engineering, particularly in Mechanical, Electrical, Aerospace, or Systems disciplines, is essential, along with a minimum of 8 years of experience in commercial space systems program management. The role requires a self-motivated individual who thrives in fast-paced environments and enjoys working with multidisciplinary teams to tackle diverse challenges in satellite system development and implementation. Responsibilities

  • Manage large system procurements related to space and ground systems.
  • Provide expert input and advice on commercial program management for satellite systems.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to address challenges in satellite system development and implementation.
  • Evaluate contracts, schedules, and key milestones for commercial space systems programs.
  • Develop technical proposals and documentation, including CONOPS and ICDs.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Aerospace, or Systems preferred).
  • 8+ years of experience in commercial space systems program management.
  • Experience working on commercial satellite programs, including communication space systems.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in fast-paced environments.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in spacecraft system engineering, including end-to-end architecture concepts.
  • Knowledge of subsystem design and analysis, systems architecture development, and electrical/mechanical system design.
  • Familiarity with space environments analysis and test, thermal design, and reliability analysis.
