About the position

The Commercial Photographer at WEWS, The E.W. Scripps Company, is responsible for shooting, editing, and developing commercials for various sales presentations and promotional spots. This role emphasizes creativity and innovation, allowing photographers to engage with the community while executing technical tasks such as video editing and live shooting. The position requires collaboration with clients and team members to produce high-quality content that meets the station's standards.

Responsibilities

• Shoot video for a wide range of station projects, including commercials, sales presentations, promotional spots, and programming.
• Edit video using linear and non-linear editing techniques for various station projects.
• Drive company vehicles on assignments as needed.
• Collaborate with clients, talent, account executives, and the Commercial Production Manager in EFP and studio productions.
• Develop ideas and write scripts for client spots in conjunction with the Commercial Production Manager.
• Maintain the Commercial Production Video and Music Library.
• Organize and administer the scheduling of all shooting and editing for department productions with the Commercial Production Manager.
• Edit on non-linear editing systems and manage digital-based storage and servers.
• Perform other duties as directed by the Commercial Production Manager or General Sales Manager.

Requirements

• Associates degree in a related discipline or equivalent years of experience preferred.
• Generally, 2+ years of experience in a related field preferred.
• Proficiency with lighting and computer-based editing.
• Knowledge and demonstration of creativity, editorial judgment, journalistic ethics, and libel laws.
• Knowledge of and proficiency in posting content to the station's websites.
• Ability to work efficiently under multiple deadlines on a daily basis.
• Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds.
• Valid driver's license, good driving record, and ability to provide proof of insurance with the company required insurance limits.
