About the position

The New York City Office of a boutique law firm is seeking a skilled Litigation Paralegal to join their litigation department. This position offers a unique opportunity for a Litigation Paralegal with a minimum of five years of experience to engage with complex and intriguing cases. The firm handles a variety of matters including product liability, class action defense, and commercial litigation on a nationwide scale. Candidates should possess a strong familiarity with essential technology tools such as MS Office and e-Discovery software, as well as proficiency in cite-checking and the Bluebook citation format. The role requires expertise in trial preparation, document production, and managing medical records and medical chronologies. As a Litigation Paralegal, you will be responsible for case, matter, and document management, ensuring that all aspects of trial preparation are handled efficiently. You will assist in coordinating depositions and managing filings in both state and federal courts. The position also involves performing various types of research—factual, legal, and internet-based—to identify relevant issues and prepare comprehensive reports. Familiarity with the department and firm’s administrative procedures and policies is essential, as is the ability to manage ad hoc projects as they arise. You will work closely with attorneys to prepare for depositions, trials, and arbitrations, ensuring that all logistics, exhibits, filings, and deadlines are meticulously managed. Additionally, you will liaise with attorneys, internal business lines, clients, and court personnel to facilitate smooth operations within the litigation department.

Responsibilities

  • Case, matter and document management
  • Document production and handling all aspects of trial preparation
  • Assist with and manage coordination of depositions
  • Manage filings in state and federal courts
  • Perform research (factual, legal, internet, and other) to identify issues and relevant matters
  • Prepare comprehensive reports based on research findings
  • Familiarize with department and firm administrative procedures and policies
  • Assist with and manage ad hoc projects when requested
  • Coordinate with outside vendors and service providers
  • Work with attorneys in preparing for depositions, trials, and arbitrations
  • Ensure logistics, exhibits, filings, and deadlines are managed effectively
  • Liaise with attorneys, internal lines of business, clients, and court personnel

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree
  • Paralegal certification preferred
  • At least 5 years of experience as a Litigation Paralegal dealing with commercial litigation matters
  • Flexibility to work overtime when needed
  • Open to a hybrid schedule which may turn into full-time in office
