About the position
The Deputy Commissioner of Revenue in Arlington County will oversee the Business Division, focusing on business tax and compliance functions. This role is responsible for evaluating operational effectiveness, ensuring compliance with regulations, developing policies, and implementing process improvements to enhance service delivery and revenue generation. The Deputy will lead a team of inspectors and auditors, fostering a collaborative environment to optimize operational effectiveness and customer experience.
Responsibilities
- Lead, mentor, and develop a diverse team of inspectors, auditors, and public engagement professionals.
- Oversee daily operations managed by Assistant Deputy and Supervisors.
- Leverage technology to enhance team guidance and structure.
- Partner with various departments to provide revenue forecasting and assessment information.
- Review and improve business and technological processes for efficiency.
- Supervise procurement and contract management processes.
- Develop outreach and education plans to inform and empower businesses and customers.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Administration, Business, Finance, Accounting, Management, or related field.
- Significant experience in Leadership & Team Building, Operational Management, Financial Management, and Contract Management.
- Strong foundational skills in reporting and compliance.
Nice-to-haves
- Experience overseeing Business Tax Inspection and Audit functions.
- Knowledge of Virginia Tax Code and audit tax processes.
- Certifications such as PMP, CPA, CBAP, Six Sigma, etc.
- Bilingual or Multilingual capabilities.
