About the position

The Commissioning Associate plays a vital role in supporting the execution of commissioning, re-commissioning, and energy audit projects at KFI Engineers. This part-time position involves working under the supervision of Project Managers to assist with functional testing of HVAC and lighting control systems, ensuring that projects are completed efficiently and effectively. The role requires a blend of technical knowledge, fieldwork, and strong communication skills to interact with customers and contractors, contributing to the overall success of the commissioning team.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with functional testing of HVAC and lighting control systems in the field for commissioning, re-commissioning, and retro-commissioning projects.
  • Perform installation reviews against design details, manufacturer IOM documentation, and industry standards.
  • Conduct equipment I/O testing comparing BAS outputs to physical devices.
  • Execute sequences of operation tests through BAS to confirm proper programming of equipment.
  • Perform test & balance (TAB) measurements and processes in new construction and retro-commissioning applications.
  • Drive to deliver materials and manage project site controls material storage.
  • Support Project Managers with technical write-ups of activities and reports.
  • Complete assigned tasks within the budgets provided by Project Managers.
  • Assist with the development of system construction checklists and functional performance test scripts.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a non-engineering field or working towards an associate degree or technical certification in a related field.
  • 0-4 years of experience in direct HVAC, building operations, or construction fields.
  • Possess a valid driver's license and reliable personal vehicle for work-related travel.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Outlook, Excel).
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to collaborate with others.

Nice-to-haves
