About the position

The Commissioning Authority/Engineer - HVAC and Plumbing Systems is responsible for leading and managing the commissioning process of building systems within a full-service Design-Build company. This role ensures that mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and other critical systems are designed, installed, and operate as intended, focusing on performance, energy efficiency, and compliance with project requirements. The CxA will collaborate with project stakeholders throughout various phases of construction, ensuring that systems meet operational, contractual, and design standards, particularly in the Department of Defense market.

Responsibilities

• Lead and manage the commissioning process of HVAC and plumbing systems.
• Verify performance, energy efficiency, and compliance with project requirements.
• Collaborate with project stakeholders during design, construction, and post-construction phases.
• Ensure systems meet or exceed operational, contractual, and design requirements.
• Oversee the commissioning of mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and other critical systems.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering with a focus on HVAC and Plumbing Engineering.
• P.E. license required.
• Minimum of 7 years of experience in HVAC/Plumbing design, construction, installation, operations, and maintenance.
• Experience with ASHRAE 90.1, 62.1, and 55 standards.
• Familiarity with California Title 24 Energy Code.
• Experience with BIM and Revit.
• Working knowledge of the commissioning process.

Nice-to-haves

• Certification(s) from applicable organizations such as ACG, AABC, ADD, NEBB.
• Experience with sustainable design.
