About the position

The Commissioning Project Manager (Cx PM) at Systems West Engineers is responsible for leading and managing commissioning projects primarily for clients in the education, healthcare, municipal, and government sectors. This role involves overseeing the commissioning process from proposal to closeout, ensuring high-quality performance and optimization of building systems. The Cx PM will also serve as a technical mentor to team members, balancing office and field work while fostering collaboration and effective project execution.

Responsibilities

• Lead and manage commissioning projects from proposal to closeout.
• Perform design reviews and develop commissioning specifications.
• Supervise construction inspections and field investigations.
• Conduct commissioning meetings and functional performance testing.
• Track and resolve commissioning-related issues.
• Develop training documentation and system operation manuals.

Requirements

• 4-8 years of experience in engineering, installation, startup, and testing of building mechanical and electrical systems.
• Mechanical or Electrical Professional Engineering (PE) registration.
• Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite.
• Advanced knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and control systems.
• Desire to lead a team and grow leadership skills.

Nice-to-haves

• Building Commissioning Certification(s) (i.e. CCP, BCxP).
• Prior experience managing commissioning projects.
• Experience with commissioning processes and sustainable construction practices.
• Familiarity with existing building operations and maintenance protocols.
• Experience performing design reviews for various facility types.
