About the position

The Commodity Inventory Controller at Mastronardi Produce is responsible for ensuring the quality inspection of tomatoes, peppers, and cucumbers grown in greenhouse farms, ensuring they meet customer specifications. This full-time position operates within a refrigerated distribution center and involves coordinating with various teams to manage inventory effectively and maintain high standards of product quality.

Responsibilities

  • Inspect and sign off on product quality in inventory and/or at dock to meet customers' specifications.
  • Support Commodity Supervisors in planning daily Production and Sales Order allocations.
  • Ensure any rework is allocated and/or firm planned to Production to meet customer specifications.
  • Update and distribute allocations throughout the day and ensure execution as expected.
  • Utilize, coach, and provide training to others within the commodity team.
  • Maintain a line of sight on expected inbounds 0 - 3 days out.
  • Coordinate and assist in communicating customers' expectations with the commodity team, Production, and Shipping.
  • Communicate with the team about issues and concerns from previous and current days.
  • Develop, lead, mentor, and set objectives for the commodity team, including formal performance reviews.
  • Maintain regular communication with multiple departments and managers.
  • Make suggestions to Commodity Supervisor for the disposal/movement of surplus commodities.
  • Routinely monitor, verify, and give feedback to Production on their accuracy of product grading.
  • Maintain necessary department metrics on which the performance of the team is measured.
  • Utilize the ERP system and communicate technical needs for improving performance.

Requirements

  • College degree required, Bachelor's degree preferred.
  • Three years of related work experience required.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • High-performance team player willing to work in a dynamic, growing, demanding, and fast-paced environment.
  • Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Creative, adaptable, and able to handle out-of-the-ordinary issues with a sense of urgency.
  • Effective follow-up and ability to handle multiple projects with strong personal time-management skills.
  • Proficient in basic computer-use skills (i.e. Word, Excel) and willing to learn NAV, JDA.
  • Self-starter willing to work flexible hours.
