We are seeking a Commodity Manager who will play a pivotal role in understanding and leading the market for assigned commodities. This position requires a deep understanding of industry trends, cost drivers, and supplier capabilities to ensure alignment with our strategic objectives. The Commodity Manager will be responsible for creating, executing, and continuously improving commodity strategies that focus on total cost, lead-time, capacity, inventory management, and risk mitigation. This role involves collaboration across business units and cross-functional teams to facilitate the execution of these strategies. The successful candidate will anticipate and solve complex supply problems, manage supplier relationships, and negotiate contracts that align with business objectives. Additionally, the role includes leading supplier visits and assessments to drive continuous improvement in supplier performance. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in purchasing and supply chain management, particularly within the semiconductor industry. A Bachelor's degree in Business or Engineering is required, with an MBA being a plus. The position demands excellent negotiation skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment. The Commodity Manager will also be expected to introduce best practices in supply chain management and take on additional responsibilities as needed.

Responsibilities

  • Provide leadership in understanding the market for assigned commodities, including trends, cost drivers, and supplier capabilities.
  • Create, execute, maintain, and improve commodity strategies focused on cost, lead-time, capacity, and risk mitigation.
  • Lead cross-functional teams to execute commodity strategies and facilitate continuous improvement projects.
  • Anticipate, analyze, and solve complex supply problems, involving stakeholders as necessary.
  • Manage supplier relationships and performance to meet company objectives.
  • Negotiate pricing, quality, delivery, and service terms with suppliers.
  • Draft and negotiate contracts to establish supplier agreements and manage supply risk.
  • Coordinate and support supplier visits, assessments, and audits for performance improvement.
  • Support corporate goals related to quality, cost, and customer service.
  • Introduce and lead new supply chain practices within the team.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Business or Engineering, preferably in Mechanical/Industrial/Aerospace Engineering or International Supply Chain.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in purchasing, supply chain, or strategic sourcing.
  • Experience in the semiconductor industry related to Build to Print parts is preferred.
  • APICS or CPM Certification is highly desired.
  • Strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.
  • Complete knowledge of purchasing aspects including source selection and negotiation.
  • Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment with attention to detail.
  • Understanding of Purchasing Law as it applies to the purchasing function.
  • Technical competence in understanding manufacturing processes and specifications.

Nice-to-haves

  • MBA is a plus.
  • Electro-mechanical experience is a plus.
  • Experience in the vacuum and semiconductor marketplace is desired.
  • Experience working within a contract manufacturing model is preferred.
