About the position

The Commodity Product Manager at Boise Cascade Company is responsible for managing product lines, selecting vendors, and monitoring performance to support sales goals. This role involves negotiating with vendors, facilitating direct sales, and developing custom programs in collaboration with sales and marketing teams. The position requires a strong commitment to safety, quality, and continuous improvement, with a focus on optimizing product line performance.

Responsibilities

• Set product lines and select vendors for lumber products.
• Monitor performance and assist in purchasing to support sales goals.
• Negotiate with vendors and manage product lines for favorable terms and prices.
• Work closely with sales, marketing, and vendors to develop custom programs and promotions.
• Facilitate direct buys and delivery between customers and suppliers as needed.
• Quote prices, take orders, and negotiate transportation rates and delivery dates.
• Evaluate monthly reports to optimize product line performance.
• Maintain division SKU master on assigned product lines.
• Monitor receipt of rebates and special discounts for vendor compliance.
• Demonstrate commitment to safety, quality, environmental awareness, and continuous process improvement.

Requirements

• College Degree or equivalent work experience in a related job function.
• Effective communication skills and ability to work independently or in teams.

Nice-to-haves

• Three to five years of experience in a related job function.
• Experience as a lumber trader or in panel products preferred.
• Previous experience in lumber-related purchasing and/or sales.
