About the position

The Commodity Product Manager plays a crucial role in managing product lines, vendor relationships, and purchasing strategies to support sales goals at Boise Cascade Company. This position involves negotiating with vendors, developing custom programs, and ensuring optimal product performance while maintaining a strong commitment to safety and quality.

Responsibilities

• Set product lines and select vendors for lumber products.
• Monitor performance and assist in purchasing to support sales goals.
• Negotiate with vendors and solicit sales of commodity products.
• Manage product lines to obtain favorable terms, prices, and promotional support.
• Work closely with sales, marketing, and vendors to develop custom programs and promotions.
• Facilitate direct buys and delivery between customers and suppliers as needed.
• Quote prices, take orders, negotiate transportation rates, and provide delivery dates.
• Evaluate monthly reports to optimize product line performance.
• Maintain division SKU master on assigned product lines.
• Monitor receipt of rebates and special discounts to ensure vendor compliance.
• Demonstrate commitment to safety, quality, environmental awareness, and continuous improvement.

Requirements

• College Degree or equivalent work experience in a related job function.
• Effective communication skills and ability to work independently or in teams.

Nice-to-haves

• Three to five years of experience in a related job function.
• Experience as a lumber trader or in panel products.
• Previous experience in lumber-related purchasing or sales.
